How can there be two John Locke's, a dead one and a "live" one on the same island?

Because one is the Mystery Man (MM) from the beginning of the season 5 finale.

The most popular belief is that the dead John is the real John and the John in the statue is really MM (mystery man which appeared with Jacob on beach) pretending to be John.

I can't even see it! It won't show up for some reason.... Is it Locke holding a orange in his mouth, or a painting of Jesus?

I guess my problem with this is that there is physically two Locke's, one inside the statue and one out. I understand the Locke inside is 'possessed' but it can't be John's body as well. It must be a shape shifter of sorts(i hope not), or an image placed into everyones brain. If they touched, there would be "dire consequences" like the rabbits, correct? If this is the case, then it could be explained through TT but as is, I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around two bodies.

it's such a cop out to explain EVERYTHING with TT. Once you throw this variable in the equation, since it's fictional to begin with, the rules change completely. Obviously, MM(mystery man) wanted everyone involved with ressurrection of John to think it actually worked. Maybe it never worked and he knew it, but took the place of John as himself in another form(John's form). This is the only way i can see it happening, unless someone TT's with John's cadaver! I'm sure all will be explained in, well, 6-8 months...::sadness::

That's what they did with the new Star Trek movie which really T'd me off a bit. I've been a fan of all the series & movies and although time travel has played a big part in alot of it-the basics always stayed the same pretty much but this movie (as much as I appreciated it) shows Spock having a relationship with Uhura and smirking just a little too much for what I'm use to. All blamed on TT...I know, I know, this is a Lost forum. Couldn't help myself.

True, but TT can also tell an amazing story if it's used correctly. Eloise killing her son is only possible with this kind of a setup, and the writing for this was absolutely genius. I can't wait to see how they explain what happens with the bomb.

the dead Locke is the real one.
the other Locke is a phantom appearing in the form of Locke. you will notice he asked Ben to kill Jacob. he only is in the form of having a body to those watching but not really having one, else he could have killed Jacob.

I suggest rewatching the season to see if the new resurrected Locke ever comes into physical contact with anyone.

JohnLocke73 - Can you see avatars of other people? If you can then send a PM to DharmaCrisps and she will try to get it corrected if it's on this end of things.

I haven't seen other's avatars.... There were a couple that kinda flashed or blinked so I right-clicked and hit 'block photo'. (I have a neurological condition that makes flashing or bright lights affect my brain in weird ways.)
