I was just thinking about both the cave scene and the lighthouse scene, in that it provided a little in-sight, in that we can now put names to the numbers. Though other than assigning a name to a number, those scenes really didn't help much in the ways of the numbers themselves.. and so I am still wondering about the numbers. In the lighthouse we can see all the names on a gear that houses the mirror that presumably are the same names in the cave (is that a fair assumption?). Which tells me what? There are/were only 360 candidates? It also seemed as if OUR numbers/LOST buddies are the last candidates to be able to do, whatever it is, Jacob and Flocke need doing. I am pretty sure all the names where crossed out except for OUR six losties.
Now of course labeling them as candidates would seem to imply what you guys have already bought to the table... replacements, i.e. Jack takes Jacob's place and lets say for the lack of a better idea Sayid takes MM's in the event that MM gets his wish to go home. Which by the way I like RogerBeers thought (on another post) on MM's place in time as his home rather than simply leaving the island, and he needs someone to turn the wheel to do so, and although this WAS done when I assume MM was Christian, and got Locke to turn the wheel, I guess we have to assume since Jacob was still alive at that time, the loophole was not complete and MM couldn't leave until Jacob was killed.
Though that still leaves the question of the numbers. TOGETHER the numbers have proven to be of significance. They made Hurley a millionaire. They were branded on the hatch door. They were typed into the computer to contain the electromagnetic deal from going haywire. Etc. It's also obvious that these characters together or alone have all played a significant role in many ways.
But why these six particular numbers? Any thoughts? Because I am not satisfied with just knowing those number correspond to the names, and that's it.
