I was looking online for a pic of John Locke for my profile and I came across a 17th century philosopher by the same name. This philosopher founded the social contract theory. This theory basically states that individuals must give up certain rights or freedoms to the authorities or government in order to receive or maintain a social order. Kinda sounds like Locke, right?
He also agreed with tabula rasa, which states that the mind has no original knowledge on its own and it must be gained through experiences and sensory perception. Also sounds like Locke, right?
I might also add that the second episode of the entire show was named tabula rasa. (btw, tabula rasa comes from the Latin for 'clean slate')
Anyway, I found this all very interesting. What are your thoughts?
